Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Kunst - Kunstgeschichte, Note: 1,0, Universität Wien (Institut für Kunstgeschichte), Veranstaltung: Proseminar IV, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ausgangspunkt dieser Arbeit sind sieben römische Märtyrerzyklen aus den Jahren um 1570 - 1600.Diese sollen mit ihren expliziten Gewaltdarstellungen in einem Kontext beleuchtet werden, in dem der Affektdarstellung und generell bildhaften Wirkweisen zunehmend größeres Gewicht zugestanden wurde. Analoge Entwicklungen im zeitgleichen Jesuitentheater sollen dabei besonders hervorgehoben werden.Anschließend folgt ein Blick auf die theoretische Reflexion einer eigenwertigen Bildwirkung durch Kardinal Gabriele Paleotti (1582), sowie eine Analyse am Beispiel der Fresken von S. Stefano Rotondo.
