Il Santuario di Grottaglie è certamente il luogo simbolo della città della ceramica, un punto di riferimento per intere generazioni che si sono formate dai Padri Gesuiti. Il magnifico tempio, a croce greca e in stile neoclassico, fu costruito tra il 1832 e il 1838 su progetto elaborato dall'architetto gesuita Giovanni Battista Iazeolla. La chiesa custodisce, dall'agosto del 1945 (in seguito ad una "peregrinatio" da Napoli), un tesoro prezioso, il Corpo del santo concittadino Francesco de Geronimo, morto a Napoli l'11 maggio del 1716 e canonizzato il 26 maggio del 1839. In questo primo volume i "Cenni storici sui Padri Gesuiti di Grottaglie" vanno dalle origini agli Anni Quaranta.
