What happens when you break all the rules?
Kait De Lucca is the wife of a rich and influential businessman and has everything she could ever wish for. Except true love. And freedom. When her best friend dies and Kait is beyond devastated. She's spent her whole life living by the rules and doing as she's told.
So, when she breaks those rules, it's with spectacular results.
With the voice of her dead friend echoing in her head, Kait runs away from her old life, heading north, with no clear plan on where she's going or what she's going to do when she gets there.
Along the way Kait picks up Deanna, a young woman who wears Hi Vis clothing and works driving trucks on a mining site. The two women are complete opposites but form an unlikely alliance when they're bonded together by circumstance. Not only on the run from a psychopathic husband but possibly from the law as well, they try to hitchhike their way out of trouble.
Truck driver, Jack Wolfe, unwittingly becomes part of the drama when he picks them up and drives them north to the idyllic, isolated community of Cloudwater Bay. Kait can't help but notice that Jack is a shining example of what a good man should be; the complete opposite of her husband in every way. Kait must decide what direction to take next, but lurking beneath the sun and sand lies the threat of Dario's vengeful reprisal, and she knows she can never be truly free. This is a powerful and suspense-filled novel that explores the bonds of female relationships, the boundaries of duty, and the power of forgiveness.
