Feminism in the Films of New German Cinema- Sherry Hormann and Katja von Garnier

While studying at Sweet Briar College, Ms. Sinner realized the importance ofwhat past feminists have done for women. Once she began research on hermaster's thesis at Bowling Green State University, knowing that she wouldlike to write about the German film bandits, Ms. Sinner found that there wasplenty of information on the women's movement and feminist films of the1970s. There was, however, very little research and information on newerGerman female filmmakers of the 1980s or 1990s. She decided to write athesis on important German female filmmakers from the 1980s and 1990s,how they were influenced by previous generations of women in front of andbehind the camera, what the films and characters were like in the 1970s andwhat they later became, and what the future for these new female directorsmight hold. This book looks at films from Helma Sanders-Brahms, Margarethevon Trotta, and Doris Dörrie. The focus of this book is on Sherry Hormannand Katja von Garnier and the films that they have produced.
