Las Elegía de Duino (1912-1922) también llamadas Elegías duinesas -"Duineser Elegien"- por haberse compuesto las primeras en el castillo de Duino, cerca de Trieste (Italia), pertenecía a la princesa alemana Maria von Thurn von Taxi-Hohenlohe, donde el poeta Rainer Maria Rilke (1875-1926) se hallaba alojado por invitación de la princesa. Rilke es uno de los tres poetas alemanes más importante de todos los tiempos. Pero no será hasta 1967 cuando aparece Obras de R.M. Rilke, en Plaza & Janes traducidas por José María Valverde, con introducción de un texto de Lieselott Delfine-Leopold, que es cuando se empieza a conocer su obras, aunque Rilke había visitado España (Toledo, Córdoba, Sevilla y Ronda) en el invierno de 1912-1913 hasta mediados de febrero. Con Exégesis de Elegías de Duino, el ensayista e ilustrador alicantino Ramón Fernández Palmeral, nos hace una interpretación o hermenéutica de las universales elegías e ilustra por primer vez.
