En el presente trabajo se abordan las principales fuentes bárbaras que cristalizaron en la formación del concepto de tiranía en la Grecia Arcaica y Clásica, entendida esta como categoría política esencialmente ganómala en el contexto de la evolución político-institucional de las diversas póleis griegas durante este período. Para ello, nos enfocamos especialmente en el análisis de las interacciones de diversa índole que establecieron los griegos con las dos potencias asiáticas que dominaron la antigua Anatolia, en tanto zona geográfica de contacto más inmediato de los griegos con las culturas del Próximo Oriente, vale decir, Lidia y Persia.
