Unterschiedliche Ansätze werden vorgestellt, die versuchen, die Ursache der Gelernten Hilflosigkeit aufzudecken. Es wird gezeigt, wie Persönlichkeitsunterschiede wirken, woher sie eventuell kommen und welche tatsächlichen Folgen sie für die Person haben. Die auf die unterschiedlichen Ansätze folgenden Hilfs - und Änderungsmöglichkeiten werden erwähnt, sowie ein neuer Denkanstoß gegeben.
