Sie dekonstruiert das Hegelsche System in all seinen Teilen - Wissenschaft der Logik, Naturphilosophie, Philosophie des Geistes, Aesthetik, Religionsphilosophie, Rechtsphilosophie -, indem sie eine Randbemerkung aus dem dritten Jenaer Systementwurf in ihren Konsequenzen für das spätere Werk ernst nimmt und entfaltet. Die Randbemerkung lautet: "springende Punkt - Reicher als Feuer, Seele Bewegung mit seiner dem Raume angehörenden Macht der Natur; Selbst das Zweyte; im Geiste das Erste." (GW Bd. 8, S. 11)Es wird gezeigt, wie diese frühe Notiz zum springenden Punkt in der späteren 'Wissenschaft der Logik' von Hegel als die 'Sache selbst' eingesetzt wird.
