Neben dem Vergleich der beiden Theaterstücke, soll die Besonderheit der Psychologisierung hervorgehoben und anhand ausgewählter Textstellen betrachtet werden. In diesem Zusammenhang wird zunächst ein Exkurs über Begriff und Thematik des Subjekts erfolgen. Um die eigene, literaturpsychologische Argumentation im textanalytischen Teil zu erhärten, bezieht sich die Verfasserin unter anderem auf Modelle bedeutender Psychologen des 20. Jahrhunderts, stets mit dem Ziel die Geschichte der Antigone aus einer für unsere Gegenwart relevanten Perspektive zu beleuchten.
