Ob man ein Kaufhaus oder eine Kirche betritt, der Unterschied ist sofort spürbar. Jeder Raum hinterlässt eine ganz bestimmte Stimmung in uns. Gerade deshalb verwenden wir so viel Zeit mit der Gestaltung unserer Wohnräume, schließlich möchte man sich zuhause wohlfühlen. Ausschlaggebend für mein Interesse am Thema ‚Der Raum als dritter Pädagoge' waren sowohl meine eigenen Schulerfahrungen, als auch das im Rahmen meines Studiums an der Pädagogischen Hochschule Freiburg erste absolvierte Schulpraktikum. Am ersten Tag dieses Praktikums bemerkte ich, dass ich bereits beim Betreten mancher Klassenräume ein ‚ungutes', fast beklemmendes Gefühl verspürte. Anfangs dachte ich, es sei vielleicht die erste Aufregung vor dem Unterrichten in einer Klasse oder die ungewohnte Situation nach so langen Jahren wieder einmal in der Schule zu sein. Jedoch stellte ich bald fest, dass dieses Gefühl mit dem Raum selbst zu tun hatte, seiner Eigenart und vor allem seiner Gestaltung.
