Il testo del De pudicitia et honestate adulescentie che qui si pubblica è contenuto in un manoscritto della Biblioteca Ambrosiana di Milano (ms. H 52 suss., cc. 27v- 36r), un bel codice miscellaneo del sec. XV, redatto in scrittura umanistica assai chiara ed elegante. Si tratta di un piccolo trattato di pedagogia e di filosofia morale, focalizzato sugli anni dell'adolescenza, giustamente ritenuti dall'autore fondamentali per la formazione integrale dell'uomo, e quindi di grande importanza anche per il bene della società, dello stato, e dell'intero genere umano. Il suo insegnamento è tratto dalle opere dei massimi esponenti della filosofia classica, nonché dai precetti della morale cristiana. Dopo aver passato in rassegna le varie età dell'uomo, l'autore precisa che l'inesorabile trascorrere del tempo, con l'invecchiamento e la decadenza che esso comporta, non riguarda soltanto la vita umana, ma si estende anche alla storia del mondo. Il tempo dunque è un bene prezioso che i ragazzi devono impiegare bene.
