Die Beischreibung einer jungen 34 jährigen Frau, welche an Schizophrenie erkrankt ist, wird sehr detailliert beschrieben. In einem 7-Jahresrhythmus wird genau erzählt, welche Ereignisse auf die Erzählerin eingewirkt haben und es wird klar, dass das Leben mit oder ohne Krankheit unterschiedlich ist. Dabei hat sie ein „Geheimnis" in der Psychotherapie zu entdecken: nämlich dass sie ihren Ehemann verlassen will, weil sie lesbisch ist. Bei den tragischen Ereignissen rund um die Krankheit gesellt sich die Trennung zu ihrem Sohn hinzu. Er ist 11 Jahre alt im 2008.Nach sieben Jahren hat die nun 41 Jährige schon einiges gelernt: wie sie mit ihrer Krankheit umgehen muss: nämlich Stimmen im Kopf mental wegschickt und ein Leben führen, das ihre Fähigkeiten zur Genesung stärkt.
