The paper examines issues of empathy, cultural memory, gender, as well as the historical and current roles of women in India, concluding with the consequences of this ideological shift.As a first step, the concepts empathy, cultural memory and gender will be studied to gain a general understanding of these and have an adequate definition. Subsequently, the role of women in India then and now will be discussed in order to classify it for the analysis part, which completes the background/theory chapter.For the analysis, postmodern political developments concerning gender will be analysed with regard to science and emotions displayed in it. During the course of this paper, things such as self-esteem, autonomy and moral education will shape the discussion in context with how they are dealt with due to the cultural memory of excluding women.
