The story is narrated by "X," a hustler with a heart of stone, who narrates how he became the man he is while reading every other man he meets. He lives with two roommates, flamboyant young Joey and sexually ambivalent Andrew, in a love triangle that he attempts to sort out via a series of blazing confessions.
