Kunst und Kulturgeschichte um Sandro Botticelli, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Botticelli gilt als einer der herausragendsten Künstler der italienischen Frührenaissance. In einer Phase des politischen Umbruchs in Florenz, geprägt einerseits von der Herrschaft der mächtigen Familie Medici, andererseits von der Luxusverteufelung des Predigers Savonarola, entstanden die Venusdarstellungen, für die er neben den Marienbildnissen heute vor allem bekannt ist.Über Botticellis profane Gemälde äußert sich Ronald Lightbown, ein britischer Kunsthistoriker, der sich in seinen Forschungen vornehmlich mit der italienischen Renaissance befasst, folgendermaßen:„In ihnen hat Botticelli eine mythologische Welt von so großer in sich ruhender Schönheit erschaffen, dass eine kritische Betrachtung fast als ungehörig, in jedem Fall als irrelevant erscheinen könnte." Jene „kritische Betrachtung" ist Bestandteil umfassender Forschungsarbeiten, die bereits mit Giorgio Vasari im Cinquecento begonnen haben. Ein Großteil der Informationen, die wir heute über das Leben und Schaffen Botticellis besitzen, stammt aus Vasaris „Künstlerviten". Betrachtet man die Forschungslage des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts, so sind vor allem die Werke Wilhelm Bodes und Herbert Hornes ausschlaggebend, gefolgt von Ernst Gombrich, der insbesondere für seine neuplatonischen Interpretationen der Gemälde Botticellis heranzuziehen ist. Hans Körner, dessen Veröffentlichungen zu Botticelli bereits in das 21. Jahrhundert fallen, widmete sich sehr detailreichen Beschreibungen des Gemäldes „Venus und Mars". Tobias Leuker und Frank Zöllner haben mit neuen Interpretationsansätzen zu neuen Forschungserkenntnissen geführt. Als rezenteste Forschungsarbeit gilt das im Jahr 2010 erschiene Werk „Ein Florentiner Maler über Gott, die Welt und sich selbst" von Damian Dombrowski. Er interpretiert
