Der erste Band des neuen Buches von Thomas von Kienperg präsentiert erstmals die klassisch-romantisch inspirierte Lyrik des Dichters. Der zweite Band enthält eine Auswahl klassisch stilisierter Novellen: die in der Tradition eines Edgar Allan Poe oder E.T.A. Hoffmann stehenden Erzählungen "Der Werwolf vom Riesengebirge" und "Die Standuhr und der Tod"; die Künstlernovelle "Die Pforten des Himmels", die historische Novelle "Die Blüntaumühle" sowie die heitere, komische Erzählung von den "Denkwürdigkeiten aus dem abenteuerlichen Leben des hochgeschätzten Wunderdoktors Höllerhans". Thomas von Kienperg bezeichnet sich selbst gerne als le dernier chevalier veritable du romantisme. Seine Romane und Erzählungen, vor allen Dingen aber seine Lyrik sind ein beredtes Zeugnis dafür, daß die kontemporäre Existenz traditionell-klassischer Literatur ein kraftvolles Manifest gegen die Dominanz stereotyper Gegenwartsliteratur darstellt.
