Since retirement in 2001, she cared for her disabled husband until his death in 2007. Afterward she devoted herself to writing, winning several awards for poetry and short stories. The author has written six books since 2012, most of them concerning in some way people who lived in Northern Kentucky. Although fiction, this book is based on things her students said and did in her class. The names and details have been changed.
