Ten-year-old Sadie Meadows is reading in bed onNew Year's Eve when she notices an unopenedpresent beneath her window. She finds it contains abook called The World from Your Bedroom - Thereand Back Again, but when she opens it up and beginsto read, she is disappointed to see it is nothing morethan a travel book packed with pages detailinghundreds of places across the world. She reads thefirst page, then puts the book down just as sleepclaims her at the instant that the New Year arrives.She awakes to find that, instead of being in herbedroom at home in Skipton, somehow she has beentransported to Ireland, the location that she had justread about in the book. There follow a series ofadventures, each set in a different location, as Sadiefinds herself travelling across the globe as sheattempts to get back home again.
