Unvergessen sind hierbei die Werke von Sebastian Brant (z.B. ,,das Narrenschiff''). Einer der Autoren, deren Existenz der moderne Kanon oftmals verschweigt, ist Jakob Ayrer. Ebenfalls aus Nürnberg stammend, befasst sich der gelernte Eisenhändler im ,,Fastnachtsspiel von einem Juden'' mit der satirischen Darlegung eines Diebstahlverbrechens. Vorliegendes Werk hat es sich dabei zur Aufgabe gemacht, antisemitische Aspekte im Werk zu identifizieren und in das damals vorherrschende Bild des Juden als gesellschaftlicher Randfigur einzuordnen.
