However, it is, in fact, the posthumously published work of Edward Billing. Cf. the sketch of Billing in Sibley's Harvard graduates (v. 9, p. 22-28). The dialogue is an exposition of the differences in belief between Billing and Jonathan Ashley, pastor of the church in Deerfield, and concerns the dismissal of Jonathan Edwards from the church at Northampton in 1750.
