Beginning in 1972, America began the last push to pull all troops from the country of South Vietnam. By mid-1973 the military reported that all known POWs and battlefield personnel had departed the country. All military and civilian operations from that time forward were supposed to be handled by 50 military, 1200 civilian personnel, and up to 5,000 civilian contractors.
