王東嶽，舊日筆名"子非魚"，自由學者，獨立于任何黨派和學術機構之外。曾爲醫學碩士，但研究生畢業後即脫離醫界；也曾做過西北大學哲學系客座教授以及西安交大管理學院的東方文化客座教授，聊以謀生。迄有著作三卷兩册：三卷《物演通論》合爲一部；一册隨筆集《知魚之樂》；一册彙編本《人類的沒落》。
本書是2018年作者在混沌大學舉辦系列講座的錄音文稿。分段方式大體依循該校製作全程視頻的節奏，雖稍經潤色，以適應閱讀之需，然粗疏浮淺之視聽觀感在所難免，還望讀者切莫以此作爲研習與品評的根據，再讀上列著作才是修養學問之正道。
