"《中国艺术研究院学术文库：红学人物研究》是作者对研究红楼梦的红学人物研究的成果。该书主要涉及了蔡家琬、孙桐生、蔡元培、胡适、王国维、何其芳、吴世昌、吴恩裕等，主要介绍了这些红学大家们对红学研究的重要贡献以及他们的作者学术观点及主要作品，对红学研究的继承与创新发展具有主要意义。
中国艺术研究院领导为提高院里的学术质量和品位，决定出版一套学术文库，我的《红学人物研究》也在其中。
1984年我的第一篇红学人物研究文章《王国维》在《红楼梦学刊》第4期上正式发表，距今已过去了三十年，到现在我已发表二十多个红学人物的研究文章，并部分收录在2011年10月出版的《红学人物志》一书中。我一生都是在搞编辑出版工作，从中国人民大学出版社、北京出版社、中国艺术研究院《红楼梦学刊》编辑部，直到1990年退休，接触的多是古典文学和研究古典文学的人，特别是我调到红楼梦研究所做编辑部主任后，被浸泡在红学的甜酿里，朝夕相处的是红学研究文章和研究红学的人，使我对这部中国历史上伟大的名著《红楼梦》及其研究也有了更深的理解。退休以后我的时间充裕了，觉得自己所知太少，便待在家里看书，同时继续研究一些红学人物和他们的著作。我写《二知道人（蔡家琬）及其红楼梦说梦》一文时，由于自己没有蔡家琬的书，《陶门弟子集》又借不出来，我只有从红庙乘公交到国家图书馆分馆（文津街）看书，一天最多能看四五个钟头。读后觉得有话要说，就把它写出。写好后，起码读两三遍，引用别人的文字也应多校对一次，自己觉得可以了，就投寄出去。

作者简介
邓庆佑，笔名邓方，号太平山人，红学家。1929年2月26日生于江西萍乡福田。1950年萍乡中学高中毕业；1954年武汉大学中文系毕业；1955年中国人民大学马列主义教师研究班中共党史专业肄业。1955年3月调入中国人民大学出版社任编辑；1970年底中国人民大学"停办"后到北京出版社工作；1979年7月被借调到中国艺术研究院《红楼梦学刊》编辑部。历任中国艺术研究院红楼梦研究所副所长、编审、《红楼梦学刊》编辑部主任、中国红楼梦学会常务理事、《红楼梦大辞典》编委、中国韵文学会会员。研究成果有《红学人物志》《索引派红学的始末》《雪芹椽笔著红楼--兼评近年来关于<红楼梦>作者问题的几种不同意见》《曹雪芹的西山故居在哪里一兼谈曹雪芹纪念馆的地理位置》，参与出版《红楼梦大辞典》《风诗·释义》《涵虚楼读诗记》等。
