本書是美東「半千叟」姚遙崤先生最新作品，內容包含八大部分：天問集、地奇集、人疑集、隨想集、人物集、往事集、旅遊集、小說集等。由於學位比大多數人多了一倍有餘，因此可稱雙料二百五。二百五加倍是五百，正好是半千。年愈花甲可以稱叟，故以雙料二百五的有色眼光來看這大千世界，希望讀者會喜歡。
姚志白，筆名姚遙崤，退休前任職美國聯邦政府國土安全部核子工程師。雖然是學工程的，但從小喜愛文學，陸續在唸大學時就書寫文章詩詞刊登於報章雜誌。我一向認為科學和文學不應該涇渭分明，而是要相得亦彰，我的期許是用科學的綠葉來襯托出文學的紅花，再結出哲學的果子。於是在公餘去涉獵哲學，獲得學位，因此文章中有時會討論人類的願景和遠景以及人類在地球上所該擔當的角色。愛好：讀書，園藝，烹飪，旅遊，運動（古稀之年每週尚在打籃球），空手道，氣功。現在是華府華文作家協會會長，亦是全北美華文作家協會理事。
抗戰時出生於貴州，成長在台灣，留學到美國，居留工作至退休。從小興趣廣泛，有趣的事都想嘗試一下，可是又不能持久。大凡一般人會的也都會一點，象棋、圍棋、西洋棋、麻將、紙牌都會玩可不精；籃球、足球、排球、乒乓球也會打但當不上國手；空手道練到黑帶三段就沒練下去。高中勉強畢業，僥倖考上了大學，以後隨著大潮流來到美國，居然也唸到了幾個學位，人懶又貪玩不肯埋頭做學問，事業東混西走跑遍了半個地球也沒什麼成就，可以説是標準的半吊子二百五。可是我這個二百五又不一樣些，因為學位比一般人多了一倍，因此是雙料的二百五為五百，五百正好是半千，年愈花甲可以稱叟，所以自號「半千叟」。著有<<半千觀大千>>一書。
