过去的半个世纪，一个重要的新学术领域--法律与宗教研究 --诞生了。目前全球有近两千名学者参与其中。这些学者正在研究的论题涉及：法律的宗教之维、宗教的法律之维，以及法律与宗教思 想、制度、方法和实践--无论古今，遍及寰宇--之间的互动关系。 这些学者从不同角度表明，宗教赋予法律以精神，并激发了法律对仪 式、传统和正义的坚守。法律赋予宗教以结构，并鼓励其忠于秩序、 组织和正统。法律和宗教共享了诸如过错、义务和契约等概念，以及 像伦理、修辞和诠释学等方法，还借助将正义与怜悯、规则与平等、 律法与爱对立起来，实现法律与宗教间的相互制衡。这种辩证互动赋予生命中这两种约束和两个层面以活力和力量。没有法律作为支柱， 宗教就会慢慢滑向肤浅的精神主义。没有宗教作为核心，法律就会逐渐退缩为空洞的、有时甚至是粗暴的形式主义。
这套丛书探讨法律、宗教和文化的基本问题--法律和权威的性质与目的、规则和服从的使命与界限、官员和公民的权利与义务、 对有需要者和无辜者的照顾与呵护、战争和暴力的正当性及其界限、 过错的性质和对其惩罚的手段、义务的来源和履行义务的程序、财产 的起源和保护的方式......。这套丛书还涉及具有法律、宗教和文化层 面的各种社会制度：关乎爱情和生育的家庭制度、崇拜和教义的宗教制度、贸易和商业的经济制度、传播和信息的媒体制度、研究和培养 的教育制度，以及涉及科学、技术、医疗和国防等制度的庞大领域。 我们提供这些译本，期待与世界各地的中文学者和学生进行对 话。我们的目的不是推销这些思想，更不是用这些思想进行殖民，也不是主张中国的法律和文化应当吸纳这些书中讲述的西方基督教故 事。相反，我们的目的是提供这些权威且适宜的资源，以促进人们更 好地理解西方对其他文化的贡献。反之，西方学者也有必要向中国的历史学家、法学家、哲学家以及其他撰写过相同主题文章的人学习。 如果能听到中国可贵的思想和信仰传统--包括儒家、佛教、道教以 及类似的丰富传统--对这些相同主题的论述，将令人无比欣喜。值 得欣慰的是，历史和当代中国学者的一些重要著作正在被译成英文， 更多比较东西方法律、政治和社会概念的书籍也开始出现。我们用中文、英语以及其他亚、欧语言出版的此类书籍越多，对这个努力寻求 正义、和平、秩序和自由的动荡世界就越有利。拒绝相互学习，对任 何一方来说都将是一种文化上的傲慢。
Shipping & Processing
This item is in stock with our supplier and usually ships within 3–5 business days.
Processing times
- In stock: Items marked “In Stock” are on our shelves. We pick, pack and ship them within 1–2 business days.
- In stock with our supplier: Items not marked “In Stock” are held by one of our Australian or overseas suppliers. We order them in for you and they usually dispatch within 2–5 business days (3–5 for some suppliers). The estimate next to the price is for this item.
- Special orders: Some supplier items, such as specialist and imported items, titles awaiting reprint and print-on-demand titles, take longer to arrive. If your order includes one, we’ll update you as soon as we hear from our supplier.
- Supplier delays: Occasionally a supplier is delayed, or their stock information turns out to be inaccurate. We’ll keep your order open for up to 60 days. If an item hasn’t shipped or isn’t on its way to us by then, we’ll cancel that item and refund it.
How accurate is availability?
Availability is based on the stock levels our suppliers tell us they hold, and we update it regularly. If a supplier issue affects your order, we’ll let you know with an updated estimate.
Delivery
- As soon as your order ships you’ll get an email with tracking.
- Australia Post usually delivers within 2–10 business days of shipping (around 4 in metro areas and around 6 in regional areas).
- If your order has more than one item, we hold the in-stock items until everything is ready, so we can ship your whole order together in one parcel.
- Shipping cost: Free on orders over $100 within Australia, otherwise $9.95 flat rate per order however many items you buy. Free shipping applies to Australian addresses only; delivery to New Zealand is $14.95 per order.
- Check your address: If an order goes to an incorrect address you gave us, or isn’t collected and Australia Post returns it to us, you’ll need to pay the postage to send it again.
Cancellations
Need to change or cancel an order? Contact us as soon as possible at contact@bookloop.com.au or through our contact page.
- Within 30 minutes: You can change or cancel your order for a full refund within 30 minutes of placing it.
- After 30 minutes: Your order is already being processed, so it can no longer be changed or cancelled. If we can accept a late cancellation, we may offer store credit instead of a refund.
- Items in transit: Once an item is on its way, either from our supplier to us or from us to you, it can’t be cancelled. If you no longer want it once it arrives, you can return it as a change of mind, with return postage at your cost. See Returns.
- Separate orders can’t be combined once they’ve been placed, and adding or swapping items can change the delivery estimate.
- Supplier delays: Occasionally a supplier is delayed, or their stock information turns out to be inaccurate. We’ll keep your order open for up to 60 days. If an item hasn’t shipped or isn’t on its way to us by then, we’ll cancel that item and refund it.

Returns
Damaged or incorrect items (within 30 days)
If an item arrives damaged or isn’t what you ordered, contact us within 30 days of delivery. We may ask for a photo, and if we need the item back we’ll send a prepaid return label, so it costs you nothing. You’ll receive a replacement or refund, as guaranteed under the Australian Consumer Law.
Change of mind (within 30 days)
We offer a refund or store credit for change of mind within 30 days of purchase when:
- you have your proof of purchase;
- the item is unused and in its original condition and packaging;
- it isn’t a sale item, special order, custom item or gift voucher.
You pay the postage to return change-of-mind items. Change-of-mind returns aren’t available for print-on-demand titles or bulk orders with special pricing.
Returned to sender
If an order is sent to an incorrect address you gave us, or isn’t collected and Australia Post returns it to us, you’ll need to pay the postage to send it again.
