本书是邱勋创作的长篇红色经典小说。故事发生在抗日战争时期的沂蒙山区。十四岁的贫农女孩冬梅不顾个人安危，从敌人严密封锁的战场上，救出了身负重伤的八路军女战士陈虹。冬梅和弟弟、奶奶以及村里地下党巧妙掩护陈虹，机智地和敌人周旋，帮助她养好伤并找到上级，重新组织起抗日武装。作品深刻而生动地展示了沂蒙山区抗日战争的风貌，歌颂了沂蒙山区军民之间的鱼水深情，故事生动、曲折、感人，体现出革命时代的少年儿童不屈不挠的精神。
