黄翔现为美国匹兹堡首位"驻市作家"，他以独具风格的诗歌、朗诵和浓郁东西方"立体综合"的色彩和个性特色的"诗书画"艺术融入美国主流社会生活。黄翔在匹兹堡创造了一座以中国"诗歌书法"装置的"诗歌房子"-"诗人之家-梦巢"。这座"诗歌房子"上的诗歌被命名为"房子诗歌"，美国人也把它称为"画诗"。而黄翔的"诗歌书法"却被欧美人描绘为"画字"，其文字的"象形涂抹"既具有线条艺术的图像化倾向，也带有行为艺术和装置艺术的兼容特征，是走出静态"书斋空间"的现代诗歌的另一类呈现方式。"房子诗歌"的主人就是诗人黄翔和他的精神生命伴侣秋潇雨兰。如今，"房子诗歌"已成为匹兹堡MATTRESS FACTORY艺术博物馆的一个重要艺术展品，也是匹兹堡的一个新的人文景点。此书是一本以文字、图片和书法综合纪录中国和美国民间文化交流的美丽的书，也是黄翔与秋潇雨兰在中国贵州高原花溪河畔和九江庐山脚下先后两处"诗歌梦巢"相继被人为摧毁、无奈幻灭后，在美国匹兹堡"梦想成真"的"诗歌梦巢"日常生活岁月的真实再现。美国PBS公共电视系统匹兹堡Wqed电视台以此为专题对黄翔和秋潇雨兰生活进行追踪采访，并制作了一部以表现一个中国自由诗人精神追求、爱情和传奇人生经历为主体的艺术纪录片。此片面向美国观众公映后，受到人们的普遍认同和热情欢迎。
