When a new family moves in next door, Eva is intrigued - it is the first interesting thing to happen for ages. But her ever protective Dad - even more protective since Eva's mum died - says the McIntyres are trouble. And so they are- they are noisy, get into fights and are generally anti-social. But Eva is curious about the boy, Jamie, who always seems to find an oasis of calm away from the noise by escaping to the roof of his garden shed. When Eva is thrown together with Jamie on a community project repairing the local park lodge, she gets to know him better. And when the lodge is vandalised, suspicion quickly falls on the McIntyres - and Jamie. It is up to Eva to stick up for Jamie, even if it means defying her loving Dad.
