The Books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes by Solomon

The books of Proverbs and Ecclesiastes, Solomon being the principal author, are part of the wisdom literature of the Old Testament Scriptures and thus part of the wisdom literature of the Ancient Near East. The Hebrew word for wisdom means "skill," and wisdom applied to life means "living life skillfully." Proverbs teaches us general maxims regarding skill in living. Ecclesiastes is like an appendix to Proverbs reminding us that there are many exceptions.
