The contents of this book examine how school experiences, individual characteristics and the environment contribute to the post-secondary school outcomes of adults with learning disabilities. The purpose of this research was to investigate the experiences of individuals who have learning disabilities and who received accommodations while in school. Emphasis was placed on the participants school experiences, individual characteristics, and environmental conditions. This qualitative research examined the experiences of four individuals through the method of in-depth interviewing and created four case studies. The findings from this study showed the importance of early identification and remediation. Progress was made during elementary school but the lack of services offered in secondary school produced negative experiences for the participants. However, these individuals experienced success at university as they felt a sense of control over what and how they learned. As well, the parental support available to them enhanced their school experiences and facilitated successful outcomes.
