National character results from the synthesis of historical, ideological, political, economic and other factors. Key leadership within the former Soviet Union (FSU) is grounded in the character of that former nation. Therefore, an analysis of the FSU national character will be accomplished followed by a psychological analysis of current key leadership. In the context of current policy questions important to US national interest, implications will be proposed that relate to FSU key leadership.
