The city of Mairinque has made extraordinary progress since the installation of its industrial estate, generating rapid urban growth that has changed its landscape and led to environmental impacts. The effects of environmental impacts have generated global, national, state and municipal concerns, and nations have come together in search of solutions to minimise these problems. Thus, Environmental Education has emerged as a viable way of generating action and reflection on the environmental perception of today's society. It is believed that through the implementation of Environmental Education, the damage caused to the environment can be reduced, considering it as a new pedagogical proposal, generating actions and reflections on development and economy, nature and man. The aim of this work is to record the environmental awareness projects that have been developed in the municipality of Mairinque, in the interior of São Paulo, highlighting their practices and challenges since 2013. The projects carried out by the Environmental Education Division of the Department of Education and Culture were studied, generating documentation containing the development and outlines of their results.
