Der Mangel gilt als Hauptcharakteristikum der Wirtschaftspolitik. Daher mag es verblüffend erscheinen, dass die politische Führung in den siebziger und achtziger Jahren die Konsumpolitik als Mittel zur Systemlegitimation wählte. Die vorliegende Arbeit beschreibt und bewertet dies anhand der Fragestellung, inwieweit die Konsumpolitik der Ära Honecker der Systemlegitimation dienlich war.
